यह विचार ही कितना आश्चर्य भरा हुआ है कि कुछ सदीयों पहले जिस मनुष्य को पृथ्वी के एक हिस्से से दूसरे हिस्से तक जाने में कई वर्षों तक कठिनाइयों से सफर करना पड़ता था आज वह मनुष्य बड़े ही आसानी से दूसरे ग्रहों पर जा सकता है। हमारे उपग्रह सौर्यमंडल में मौजूद अन्य ग्रहों तथा नक्षत्रमंडलो की जानकारी बड़ी ही सहजता से हम तक पहुंचा देते हैं। इसी विषय पर विचार करते हुए मैंने मन ही मन में कल्पना किया की मंगल ग्रह के सतह पर सबकुछ कैसा रहा होगा?

मंगल ग्रह पर कई वर्षों पूर्व जीवन की उत्पत्ति हुई थी, परंतु वातावरण में बदलाव आने के कारण वहां के सभी पशु,पक्षी,वृक्ष तथा पौधें नष्ट हों गए। मेरे अनुमान से वहां के जीवों का जीवन आज पृथ्वी के जीवों से कुछ भिन्न न रहा होगा। मंगल ग्रह की हुई दुर्गति से मुझे ये शिक्षा मिलती है की अपने पर्यावरण तथा प्रकृति की सुरक्षा करना कितना आवश्यक है अन्यथा वह दिन भी दूर नहीं जब पृथ्वी भी मंगल की तरह वीरान पड़ जाएगी।
